Nearing the turn of the century, and the rapid rise of the modern art market, provenance came to replace connoisseurship as the leading indicator of authenticity.  Adept at negotiating changing tides, Bardini evolved strategies to evoke convincing provenance, from fake certificates of authenticity, to planting objects in villas and chapels so that they might be discovered "in situ."

The Art of Intimate Conversation with Glori & Leon Berg

The Art of Intimate Conversation, What our parents didn't teach us about love.

We come together in a rush of passion, then we achieve love through continuing conversations.
Intimate conversation is an art. We may desire to connect with our beloved, our friends, our family, but deep connection, sharing intimately, is an art form that needs to be learned and practised.
Share a morning together as we give you a taste, an appetiser, of how we can create deeper intimacy in our relationships through open and safe conversation.

The morning is open to couples, parents and any individuals who understand the benefit in giving time and care to the quality of ones relationships weather at home or in the work place.

"A great partner loves you exactly as you are. An extraordinary partner helps you grow; inspires you to be, do and give your very best." - anon

Glori Zeltzer, MA MFT (CA Lic. MFT 16587) is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Ventura, California. For over 35 years she has guided individuals and couples on their journey toward joyous and passionate relationships.
Leon Berg is a founding member of the Ojai Foundation, and a senior facilitator and trainer of The Way of Council. He has facilitated Council groups in the U.S. and abroad for the past 25 years.

Together Leon & Glori bring their communication and relationship skills, and experience as a couple, to create dynamic workshops teaching individuals and couples how they can enrich their relationships. They teach together in the U.S. and abroad. They will be in Tuscany for the month of June and will be giving 3 different one daylong workshops. They are also available for individual or group sessions for further guidance.

Book Presentation "Across the Big Blue Sea"

Book Presentation "Across the Big Blue Sea"

We are very pleased to have Katja Meier, who will share the inevitable joys, challenges and mishaps that ensue when a Swiss expat is put in charge of a refugee home in a Tuscan hilltop town. This event will be moderated by Georgette Jupe "Girl in Florence"

She is the author of "Across the Big Blue Sea: Good Intentions and Hard Lessons in an Italian Refugee Home". Published in 2017, the thought-provoking memoir about a refugee shelter in Tuscany sheds light on the joys and challenges encountered by somebody who tried to make a difference during the current 'refugee crisis'.
As a Swiss citizen and writer who has spent most her adult life abroad, Katja is a commentator on topics pertaining to migration in Italy and Europe (see e.g. her letter in the New Yorker or the panel at the Stampa Estera in Rome).

Her book presentations and lectures are great starting points to discuss preconceptions linked to migration, identity, human trafficking and sex work.
Katja lives with her family in a little-known valley in the praised Tuscan countryside and is currently working on the screenplay for the film adaptation of "Across the Big Blue Sea" (rights have been acquired by Berlin-based Equality Film).

Time: 6pm

Endorsements for "Across the Big Blue Sea":

"Perfectly done, with so much humor and outrage both, Across the Big Blue Sea says more than most anything I've read about the 'refugee crisis' and how the system is set up to fail, even the best-intentioned and most well-meaning (without shying away from the fact that plenty of people involved are neither)."
- Lauren Collins, The New Yorker staff writer and author of When in French

"In this era of ugly nativism and xenophobia ascendant, Katja Meier's warm and often funny book is a tonic of goodwill. The important lessons about herself and the world that she learns are a timely reminder of why the great religions, and all the best traditions of human civilization, oblige those of us with roofs over our heads and food to eat, to shelter and feed the stranger."
- Nina Burleigh, Newsweek national politics correspondent, and NYT bestselling author of The Fatal Gift of Beauty

"Absolutely essential reading. Across the Big Blue Sea attends, with humor and humility, to one of the critical questions of our time: how to respect the humanity and dignity of those born in nation-states whose policies and politics compromise both. This is not a tale of victims and villains, nor of saints and heroes, but of women—Italian, Swiss, Nigerian—seeking to make their world a place worth calling home."
- Taiye Selasi, author of Ghana Must Go

Maria Francesca Masia was born in Nuoro (Sardinia).

She lived and finished her high school there until the age of 19.

In 1990 she moved to Florence to attend the Faculty of Motor Sciences, where she obtained her BA in 1997.

She started working as a PE teacher in public schools. However, she left that job almost immediately after realizing that she would rather work in the private sector. She worked both for families with "special needs" children, managing rehabilitation activities, as well as for gyms in Florence and surroundings.

In the following years she specialized in choreographic methods, attending Italian Sports federation as well as international, Nike and Reebok courses. She has travelled around a lot, discovering new methods and other teachers. She specialized in Fit boxing, teaching it for over 10 years in a gym in Florence - alongside step, aerobics and muscle conditioning.

She focused on a holistic approach to the body, studying and specializing in stretching, yoga, tai-chi, and pilates.

In 2000 she joined the staff of a wellness center in Florence, as class/group teacher and personal trainer, where she worked until 2008 – eventually, as head of the fitness area. Unfortunately, this experience ended when the gym went bankrupt. Yet, Maria Francesca saw this experience not as a setback, but rather as a new beginning. She resumed her studies with a 3-year course at the ‘Samadhi’ yoga school.
She then started freelancing in collaboration with a number of gyms within the city of Florence.

Here's Maria's dream:
To teach groups in a sardinian beach at the age of 80.
Would you like to join her there?

Shamanism & The Management of Inner Energies

We will enter into the heart of the Shamanism, preparing ourselves to become the leaders of our emotions, feelings, and even the functioning of our physical health.

Shamanism is the oldest direct system of revelation on earth. It works through guided imagery and leads us to discover ourselves and our world, helping us to tap into our natural resources. In this lesson I will introduce the basics of the method, explaining what an animal of power is and how to contact it and assume its characteristics and virtues. Like children imitate animals to become strong and brave, we will do the same. We will finish the lesson with the Qi Gong of the 5 animals, using the body as a means of learning and personal transformation.

A total of 433 professionals work for the Foundation (doctors, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, health workers and office staff) supported by over 2,000 active volunteers in fundraising activities necessary to financially sustain the work of the doctors. The support offered by ANT deals with all kinds of problems from the perspective of the “general welfare” of the patient. Since 2015, the ANT oncological home care service has had the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2008 quality certificate issued by Globe srl.

The ANT Foundation is also strongly committed to cancer prevention with early detection projects of melanoma, thyroid cancer, gynaecological and breast cancer. Since the inception of the projects in 2004, 125,000 patients were examined free of charge in 72 Italian provinces (as of December 2015). Prevention campaigns are carried out at health facilities (that offer their location free of charge to ANT), in ANT clinics, as well as the mobile clinic – the Prevention BUS. The vehicle, equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment (digital mammography, ultrasound and videodermatoscope) allows a health professional to perform preventive visits throughout the country as part of the various ANT projects. The ANT Foundation operates in Italy through 120 delegations where the presence of volunteers is highly active.
